Grate a clove of garlic to a fine paste and mix with oil and other seasonings such as herbs de Provence and place  on your table or bar with some fresh bread to dip into.  A great little aperitif with wine or this plate can also be used to grate fresh ginger or garlic to be used in cooking.
A wheel thrown plate that has a raised texture in the center which is ideal for mashing garlic and grating ginger. 
The grating portion is VERY sharp and it is recommended to attach the garlic …. Or piece of ginger to a small fork to avoid cutting yourself.
