An artist born in Essex, England, Jane Barclay originally studied ceramics and later attained her Degree in Constructed Textiles at Middlesex University, London. Over the years she has exhibited her work in London, Paris, Holland, Germany and Luxembourg both in galleries and on catwalks.
She also taught at Middlesex University, Loughton and Harlow Colleges on various ceramics and textile courses before leaving the UK in 1997 to come to Luxembourg where she has become well known for her bright paintings of the City.
A few years ago after purchasing a kiln and a potters wheel, she has gone back to her ceramic roots and is enjoying, once again, getting her hands stuck into that wonderful clay producing both kitchenware, oil burners, sculptural and Raku display pieces.
Having an electric kiln has led on to the next step of experimenting with fused kiln glass with inclusions of various metals and sometimes gold and silver leaf. At first these experiments were for mug coasters, wall tiles, mounted pictures and for jewellery but now glass is starting to be incorporated into her latest ceramic pieces too.
